Pride Agenda endorsements are based on responses to our candidate questionnaire, an examination of a candidate's voting record (in the case of incumbents) and his or her public acts and statements, and consultations with other organizations throughout New York State, including local LGBT organizations. Incumbents who demonstrate their strong support for issues important to the LGBT community are usually endorsed. Challengers mounting viable campaigns with a strong record of support for LGBT issues are sometimes endorsed over incumbents. Candidates not seeking the Pride Agenda’s endorsement or not otherwise participating in the endorsement process are typically not endorsed.
