Albany County District Attorney -- David Soares (D-WFP) (Challenger)

David Soares, former Assistant District Attorney in Albany County, has centered his election campaign on reforming the Rockefeller drug law and preventing violent crime. He is a vocal supporter of marriage for same-sex couples and would place no restrictions on a woman's right to choose. In his own words, "I am a strong supporter of rights and benefits for the LGBT community. … The District Attorney's office has the opportunity to play a high-profile [role] as a defender and advocate of rights for the LGBT community. As Albany County D.A., I would seize that opportunity…" Empire State Pride Agenda is proud to endorse his candidacy for Albany County District Attorney.

Sharing the ballot with Mr. Soares are incumbent Paul Clyne, who was defeated by Mr. Soares in the Democratic Primary but who is running on the Independent line, and Republican Roger Cusick. Neither candidate sought the Pride Agenda's endorsement.

Mayor of Plattsburgh -- Daniel L. Stewart (R) (Incumbent)

Dan Stewart, the openly-gay Mayor of Plattsburgh, has been a zealous advocate for LGBT issues with the Governor, the Senate Majority Leader and other Republican officials across the state. Empire State Pride Agenda is proud to endorse his candidacy for the Mayor of Plattsburgh.
