Albany Common Council, 7th Ward Republican Primary - Ford McLain (Open seat)
Ford McLain is currently a policy analyst with the NYS Council on Children and Families. A straight, married man, he serves as the general coordinator for the Log Cabin Republican Capital Saratoga Organizing Group. In contrast to Mr. McLain's support of most LGBT issues, he said he does not support measures requiring that municipalities contract only with companies that offer domestic partner benefits. On the right to choose, Mr. McLain said, "The right to choose is not the same as the right to access. Two different rights: because a woman has a right to something does not mean that the government or the public should necessarily pay for it."

While we may not agree with all of Mr. McLain's positions, Empire State Pride Agenda is pleased to endorse Ford McLain's candidacy in the Republican primary for Albany Common Council, 7th Ward.

Mr. McLain is running against Richard M. Melinsky, who did not submit a questionnaire seeking the Pride Agenda's endorsement.
